![]() So my best advice is to use Google translate on a burner/economical phone. My last handheld translator device was in the mid 1990's when I traveled through Russia a few times so English/Russian translation was key for trains and buses, if you have ever seen Russian words you would understand. Yes they do have standalone handheld translator devices on market but in all my recent travels in the past 20 plus years I have never seen anyone using one. You should see some of the photos that I get with my iPhone 11 Pro, simply incredible and so am so glad that I bring her along but always take some managed risks and being mindful when and where I am at before I pull it out. I have my tried and true Samsung Galaxy S7, which has navigated me on road trips throughout all of Colombia and Ecuador, along with my iPhone 11 Pro and depending on where I am driving/traveling to I will carry one or at times even both on me during even city walks through places such as Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Cartagena or anywhere in between. ![]() With standard precautions and mindfulness "People (won't) get mugged constantly for their phones", this is true here in Colombia and anywhere else in the world for that matter. ![]()
